Azu Nwagbogu
(Board Member)

Azu is the founder and director of the African Artists’ Foundation (AAF), a non-profit organization based in Lagos, Nigeria, and is dedicated to the promotion and development of contemporary African arts and artists.
He is also founder and director of the Lagos Photo Festival, an annual international arts festival of photography, which brings leading local and international photographers into dialogue with multifaceted stories of Africa.

Azza Satti
(Board Member)

Azza is the Head of Artists at African Speakers + Artists in Nairobi, Kenya.
She is also the founder of North-East, an experiential production agency focusing on the curation of art, film and theater programs and productions in New York, Paris, Johannesburg and Nairobi.
Azza is currently a New York University Critical Collaboration Fellow 2016-2018.


Alexandra Topalsky

Alexandra is an experienced curatorial and collections management consultant working in Cleveland. Alexandra's passion is to promote art and culture as vital components for local and global understanding by sharing, connecting, and building networks. Alex has a Master degree in Museum Studies from the George Washington University, she has a passion and knowledge for contemporary African and African Diaspora art and has worked with the National Museum of African Art Smithsonian, and private contemporary collections.

Maria Pia Bernardon

Maria Pia Bernardoni is a curator and organizer of photography related events and exhibitions.
She has worked in the organization of the International Festival of Photography based in Lucca (Italy), curating the  “Fotografi per un Giorno” project and exhibition in 2011 and assisting in the organization of the World Press Photo exhibition and European Photo Exhibition Award in 2012.
She has been curator of the talks for the Photolux Festival in Italy
She writes as a contributor for the photography section of Vogue Italia web magazine and is the editor of the photography section of Art Base Africa (, the online platform for contemporary African art.
Since January 2015 she works as a curator for the international projects for the African Artist’s Foundation and LagosPhoto Festival, and has been part of the curatorial team for the 6th edition of LagosPhoto Festival, in Nigeria.

Margherita Castiglioni

Margherita Castiglioni was born in Milan and has a degree in Contemporary Art Theory from Brera Academy of Arts. She is co-founder of Milan based project space Armada. She is currently based in London.

 Georgiana Ward-booth

Georgiana Ward-Booth is an independent consultant specialised in the design of research and capacity building projects in the realm of international cooperation. She holds a MA from King's College in International Public Law and has been working as a researcher and project associate with UNICRI on projects related to the protection of fundamental human rights and criminal justice systems’ responses to emerging crimes and transnational threats. She is an art lover and always kept alive a vivid intellectual interest on the interaction between art, culture and politics. She has been engaged on various discourse analysis projects and sees a rosy picture for the application of such research techniques to the study of artistic narratives. Currently she is researching the evolution of the concept of sovereignty.
